Cycling routes in Mallorca suitable for everyone

Although there are plenty of cycling routes in Mallorca, not all of them are suitable for all audiences. In this post, we will focus on proposing the most suitable bike routes for anyone who wants to explore the island calmly, without haste or stress. Whether your trip is with a partner, family, or a group of friends, you can do these routes without any problems:

Palma by bike

  • Start your journey at the iconic Palma Cathedral (La Seu). This majestic Gothic building is located in the city's old town and is an essential landmark. From here, you can follow the marked cycling routes that will take you through the narrow streets of the old town.
  • Next, you can explore the old town, where you can leisurely bike through its narrow cobblestone streets, discovering hidden squares, ancient palaces, and charming cafes.
  • From Parc de la Mar, head to Paseo Marítimo. This coastal route offers spectacular views of Palma's harbor and bay. It's a flat and easy route, perfect for a relaxing bike ride.
  • Continue your journey to the popular neighborhood of Portixol. This former fishing village has transformed into a lively area with numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. It's the perfect place to take a break and enjoy a refreshing drink or a delicious lunch.
  • Finally, head to Playa de Palma. This stretch of white sandy beach is ideal for a bike ride. Here, you can soak up the sun, take a dip in the sea, and relax before returning to the city center.

Alcudia to Puerto Pollensa bike route

Although you'll only cover a distance of 11 km on this Mallorca bike route, it's more suitable for intermediate riders and not recommended for children, as it involves cycling on the road.

  • Start your journey in Alcudia, a city full of history with medieval walls and Roman ruins. From there, head north on Ma-2220 road.
  • As you leave Alcudia, you'll pass by the beautiful Playa de Alcudia. This white sandy beach is one of the island's most popular spots for swimming and sunbathing.
  • Continue along the coast until you reach Puerto de Alcudia. This lively harbor offers plenty of restaurants and shops, as well as a marina filled with luxury yachts.
  • From the port, the route takes you along the stunning Bay of Pollensa. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea and the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains.

Finally, you'll arrive in Puerto Pollensa, a charming coastal town known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beach.

Palma to Soller bike route

The Palma to Soller bike route is one of the most popular in Mallorca. This approximately 32-kilometer journey will take you through stunning landscapes, from the bustling city of Palma to the tranquil village of Soller.

  • Start: Palma de Mallorca Start your journey in the center of Palma. From there, head northwest on Ma-11, a road that will take you through the outskirts of the city and into the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains.
  • Bunyola: Your first stop on your route is the picturesque village of Bunyola, located about 14 kilometers from Palma. Here, you can take a break to rest, recharge, and enjoy the tranquility of this small town.
  • Coll de Sóller: After Bunyola, the road begins to ascend towards Coll de Soller. This stretch of the route can be a bit challenging, as it includes several steep switchbacks. But your efforts will be rewarded with spectacular views of the mountains and the valley.
  • Sóller: Finally, you'll arrive in Soller, a charming village known for its orange groves and modernist architecture. Here, you can explore the old town, visit the Sant Bartomeu church, and enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many local restaurants.
