Discovering Mallorca as a family: an unforgettable experience
Located in the heart of the Mediterranean, Mallorca is a beautiful island known the world over for its stunning beaches, unique culture and delicious cuisine - the ideal place for a family holiday!
Here are some ideal activities and places for people of all ages to enjoy the island - Mallorca has it all!
Beaches to suit all tastes
Mallorca has a huge variety of beaches, each one with its own personality and appeal. If you're looking for a quiet beach, Cala Mesquida, located near Predi Son Jaumell, is ideal. It's one of the most popular beaches with the surfers who visit the island. Playa de Muro and its iconic wooden jetties is a favourite for instagrammers visiting the island.
In the south of the island, we have Cala Mondragó, a white sandy beach with crystal clear waters; it's located in a natural park and is ideal for snorkelling. If you're looking for more action, Playa de Palma is a great option, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and a wide range of water sports available.
Water and theme parks
If you want a break from the beach but not from the water, then going to a water park is a particularly good option if you're travelling with children. Aqualand, in Llucmajor, and Hidropark, in Alcúdia, are two options for a great day out on the slides and in the pools. Another good place to visit with children is the Palma Aquarium - where they can see sharks and all kinds of aquatic species - and Marineland, where you can enjoy some amazing dolphin shows.
Have some mountain adventures
Mallorca is also known for its impressive mountains. Its spectacular Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There you can enjoy hiking, climbing, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.
If you prefer something quieter, then why not take a stroll with your family around one of the beautiful mountain villages? A visit to Deià, Valldemossa or Banyalbufar is a must, with their stunning views and great local gastronomy.
Enjoy the Mallorcan cuisine
Mallorca is also known for its diverse and delicious cuisine, which includes a wide assortment of local and regional dishes. Its most popular sweet is the famous ensaïmada and its most famous sausage is sobrassada, made with pork and spices. In addition, the island has a wealth of restaurants offering international cuisine and a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options too.
Delve into Mallorca's history and culture
Mallorca has several historical and cultural towns that you can enjoy with your family. The beautiful Capdepera Castle, very close to Predi Son Jaumell Hotel Rural, is a wonderful place to visit with the family and to enjoy its spectacular sea views.
Palma, the capital of the island, is an outstanding city full of historical and cultural monuments. You mustn't miss out on the imposing Cathedral, Bellver Castle, and the fish market. In Alcudia, in the north of the island, we recommend a visit to the archaeological site of Pollentia or a walk along the medieval walls of the town.
In short, Mallorca is an island full of surprises and adventures for the whole family - we're looking forward to seeing you!
